Just one and half month before his father and originator of the Mzuguno style of art, David Mzuguno died, he told the Ugandan newspaper The Daily Monitor, “I have also taught three of my children to do art and hopefully they will carry on with the business when I have left this world,” Now it has gone half year since David Mzuguno passed away so do the children carry on with Mzuguno´s business?
One of David’s sons, Kipara, has carried on in the tradition of his father and has excelled in the Mzuguno style. His paintings are very close in both style and quality – it is said that at some point in the father’s career he merely signed the paintings while his children actually did the artwork There are however differences between David’s and his children’s paintings. David displays more variation – young Kipara has yet to develop such diversity.
The painting Mzuguno children depend on domestic Tanzanian market, especially galleries in Tanzania which were used to be supplied by Mzuguno art works when David Mzuguno was alive.
Being a feature on a website that reaches unlimited people around the world is new to the Mzuguno boys. They hope they find success in the venue!
