Directly from the biography that I asked ‘Raham’, as I know him, to write:
I am a Kenyan citizen who comes from a small tribe called ‘TAITA’ or DAWIDA’, in Kenya. I inherited this talent from my late mother who was previously a banker before her death that occurred in the year 2000, the same year which I was doing my final year exam in secondary school. My mother was also a talented woman in the art field and she was known by her names Grace Rhoda Wakesho Ngume.
Age: I am 29 years old. I started drawing at a tender age, that was when I was in lower primary school, in 1998. By this period I was in Form 2. At the same time I was doing mural painting and drama decorations at the school – this is where I got the encouragement to pursue my talents and find myself where I am today.
Inspiration: From my secondary level I enrolled at the Buruburu Institute of Fine Arts, where I met new talents who inspired me very much. It was from this time that I improved my talents and paid much closer attention the quality of my painting. The artists who have inspired me are Ndeveni, Steve Nyaga, and Dennis Muraguri – but the most inspiration came from my late mother.
Painting Styles: I like doing abstract paintings, impressionism, and also realism. In my paintings I like to capture scenes which touch emotions and nature.
Currently I am employed by a leading textbook company to draw realistic graphics for the Kenya public school system – my drawings are all over the Kenya educational system, but never before scene on the internet. This excites me very much!
